From the Musics of House of Dereon

One of the most popular brands of women’s clothing line today is the house of dereon. But what is the house of dereon? Where did it start? And who founded such as clothing line that women all over the world have come to love for its sheer magnificence to accentuate the curves of a true woman?

The house of dereon is a clothing line founded by one of the most powerful woman in the music industry that got its popularity for her songs that featured woman power. This person is Beyonce Knowles. She, along with her mother, was the founder of house of dereon.

The style and concept is inspired by three generations of women in their family, with the name “Deréon” paying tribute to Beyoncé’s grandmother, Agnèz Deréon. House of Dereon is not to be confused with the junior line of Dereon, both are from the Knowles’.

The line first started when Beyonce was still in Destiny’s Child when her mother, Tina Knowles, would design and sew their outfits, especially when the group was first starting out and did not have much money or access to designer clothing. Their clothing line was one of the many reasons why Destiny’s Child became very popular in the music industry apart from their obvious talents.

The house of dereon was then announced to the media in September 2004, by Tina and Beyoncé Knowles. House of Dereon’s tagline is “Couture.Kick.Soul” which represents the three generation of women. The clothing lines mixes hip-hop influences, such as its use of denim, with ultrafeminine flourishes like embroidery and ruffles.

In an interview with Ebony magazine Beyoncé said “I love the clothes from the ’70s, my mother’s clothes. I love clothes from the ’40s, my grandmother’s style, so elegant. We wanted to take elements from my grandmother’s legacy–the beaded lace, lush colors, fine fabrics–and mix them with clothes from my mother’s generation and my generation.”

Expanding the brand, Beyonce and her sister Solange Knowles launched the junior line Deréon that is geared towards younger consumers and is more reasonably priced. Dereon was introduced in 2006. The tag line for Deréon is “Where the sidewalk and catwalk meet”.

This line includes more casualwear, such as sweatpants and embroidered hooded sweatshirts. Both women are models for both clothing lines and are featured on most marketing campaigns.

The House of History With Dereon

The house of dereon is one of the most popular clothing line in the world yet the most controversial. The house of dereon became popular not only because of its design, but also because of its founder. The house of dereon is a fashion clothing line that was founded by none other than the five time Grammy Award-winning American R&B singer Beyoncé Giselle Knowles.

Other than being a singer, songwriter, record producer, music video director, actress and dancer, Beyoncé Knowles is also known as a fashion designer. The house of dereon was founded and inspired by the three generation of Knowles, Beyoncé Knowles, Tina Knowles and Agnèz dereon.

The house of dereon style and concept is inspired by three generations of women in their family, with the name “dereon” paying tribute to Beyoncé’s grandmother, Agnèz Deréon. House of dereon was announced to the media in September on the year of 2004, by Tina and Beyoncé Knowles.

While Beyoncé was still performing in the group Destiny’s Child, her mother Tina would design outfits, especially when the group was first starting out and did not have much money or access to designer clothing lines. Part of what called attention to Destiny’s Child, besides their obvious talent, was their unique fashions.

The house of dereon style set them apart, yet gave the group cohesion as a similar style, color or garment was worn by all the members. The house of dereon was first introduced on The Oprah Winfrey Show, and on The Tyra Banks Show.

In an interview with Beyoncé on the Ebony Magazine, she said “I love the clothes from the ’70s, my mother’s clothes. I love clothes from the ’40s, my grandmother’s style, so elegant. The Dereon Story

The Dereon Story

The hip hop fashion scene has rapidly grown and evolved the past decades. With this growth, many hip hop clothing brands were also conceptualized and contributed to the evolution of this particular field of fashion.

One of these brands is Dereon. This ready-to-wear fashion line is particularly known for the people who conceptualized it in 2006, Beyonce Knowles and her mother/stylist Tina Knowles. The name Dereon refers to Beyonce’s grandmother, Agnez Dereon.

The complete name of the brand is The House of Dereon, not to be confused with the junior line of Dereon which is launched by Beyonce and her sister Solange Knowles. The style and concept of this clothing line is inspired by three generations of women in Beyonce’s Creole family.

The clothing line features casual wear, such as sweatpants and embroidered hooded sweatshirts. Beyonce and Solange are both models for both clothing lines, and are featured in most marketing campaigns. Even the members of Beyonce’s touring band, Suga Mama, appeared in print ads.

The House of Dereon has a tagline that represents the three generation of women, “Couture. Kick. Soul”. Soul refers to Agnes, Couture refers to Tina, while Kick refers to Beyonce. The inspiration for the line came from Tina’s experience in designing and sewing the outfits of the members of Destiny’s Child. The fashion style of the group set them apart, yet gave them cohesion. What came out is a clothing brand that mixes hip hop influences, such as the use of denim, with ultrafeminine flourishes like embroidery and ruffles.

One of the distinct characteristics of jeans from Dereon, is the agu which is featured at the back pockets of jeans. Other styles in the clothing line that allude to Agnes Dereon’s era are the retro pencil skirts. The latest venture of the brand is a collection of vintage-inspired dresses that will be available at Bloomingdale’s. The line is based on the 50’s-style dresses that Beyonce wore for her role as Etta James in the film Cadillac Records. For more information visit to our site at http://www.streetzwear.com

Under the House of Dereon

By bfan · Comments (0)

Under the House of Dereon

The music industry has produced many popular names that made it across the world, and among those names that kept ringing in our ears is the name Beyoncé. Beyoncé Giselle Knowles or simply Beyoncé has really come a long way since the formation of an R&B and pop girl group called Destiny’s Child. Aside from being an R&B singer and song writer, Beyoncé Knowles is also known today as a record producer and an actress. But beyond being a popular entertainer the world over, Beyoncé is also as popular as being an entrepreneur that founded the branded clothing line, house of dereon.

Destined Child

Beyoncé Giselle Knowles rose to fame in the late 1990s as the lead singer of the girl group Destiny’s Child, which is also the most celebrated girl group of all time. “Say My Name”, “Jumpin’ Jumpin”, and “Survivor” were the albums that made the group more than just a group of girls, but a pop icon among the rest of the world.

In late 2000, Destiny’s Child turned their attention in embarking on individual side projects, which also includes the releasing of solo albums. This was also the time when Beyoncé started to show up on movies such as the box-office hit Austin Powers Goldmember in which she co-starred with actor Mike Myers. She also recorded her first solo single, “Work It Out”, for the film’s soundtrack.

This opportunity also proved to the world that Beyoncé’s as versatile as she was with Destiny’s Child when she released her solo album, Dangerously in Love. Dangerously in Love debuted at number one upon its release, selling 317,000 copies according to Nielsen SoundScan.

It also yielded the number-one hits “Crazy in Love”, and “Baby Boy”; and the top-five singles “Me, Myself and I” and “Naughty Girl”. Knowles solo debut was well-received by critics, earning five Grammy awards in one night for Dangerously in Love, tying the likes of Norah Jones, Lauryn Hill, and Alicia Keys for most Grammys received in one night by a female.

In late 2005, Knowles landed another role in a movie titled Dreamgirls in which she portrayed the Diana Ross-based character Deena Jones. Released in December 2006, Dreamgirls stars Jamie Foxx, Eddie Murphy, and Jennifer Hudson. Knowles recorded several songs for the film’s soundtrack, including the original song “Listen” in which she won the Best Original Song on the Golden Globe Awards. She also won Best Actress – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy of the same awarding night.

This marked the start of Beyoncé’s success. But these aren’t the only accomplishments that she achieved. Beyoncé also proved to be as talented on the entrepreneurial plane when she founded the house of dereon clothing lines.

The House of Dereon

When the group Destiny’s Child had only started out and did not have much money or access to designer clothing, Tina Knowles (Beyoncé’s mother) used to design and sew the outfit that the group usually wears.

House of dereon clothing was first mentioned to the media in September of 2004, by fashion partners Tina and Beyoncé Knowles. In an interview, the founders said that the brand name was inspired by Agnez Dereon, mother of Tina, grandmother of Beyonce and Solange. The reason was to honor Mrs. Dereon, a self-taught seamstress who created fine custom clothing and home furnishings for select private clients throughout the south in earlier years.

Tina Knowles picked up and furthered her mother’s love for fashion and design. Throughout the time period she was supporting her daughters’ careers, she found ways to upkeep and entertain her need to design and style.

The concept is inspired by three generations of women in their family, which is from Agnez Dereon’s time, Tina Knowles’ generation, and Beyoncé Knowles’ point. According to Tina Knowles, the overall style of the line best reflects Beyoncé’s taste and style. They describe the clothing line as Couture. Kick. Soul. Beyonce’s Grandmother as being the soul, Beyoncé’s is the kick, and Tina Knowles is the couture. Additionally in the line’s design are styles that allude to Agnez Dereon’s era, such as retro pencil skirts.

Beyonce’s creative direction that landed her the success she has now in the music world is now channeled into house of dereon. It is reported that Beyonce has an active role in the House of Dereon’s design department, actively approving and discussing fashion designs and ideas.

Finding great success in fashion, Tina and Beyonce also took it upon themselves to launch a splintered Junior’s line entitled dereon. Expanding the brand, Beyonce and her sister Solange Knowles launched the junior line dereon that is geared towards younger consumers and is more reasonably priced. Dereon was introduced in 2006. The tag line for dereon is “Where the sidewalk and catwalk meet”. This line includes more casualwear, such as sweatpants and embroidered hooded sweatshirts. Sisters Beyoncé and Solange is the official spokes model for the clothing line as she’s also become a wordly popular image, with an ever-growing fanbase. House of dereon and dereon have both found major success in their respective markets and beyond.

Prom season will be here before you know it, so it’s important to start shopping for prom dresses now. You don’t want to be caught without the perfect dress on your special night, so here’s a preview of what’s available.

Sherri Hill Dresses

Designer Sherri Hill is known for her stunning evening dresses, pageant dresses, and – of course – prom dresses. Color, texture, and embellishment are the story this season. If you want to be the belle of the ball, look for her stunning ball gown in aqua and turquoise, with an overlay of gold layered tulle. The metallic glitter fabric will catch everyone’s eyes, as will the oversize satin sash that cinches your waist.

Formal dresses don’t have to be long, and no one knows this better than Sherri Hill. Her sleeveless baby doll mini dress is sassy with sequins covering the sweetheart bodice, and the layers of tulle are wired at the hem for an extra flourish. Available in colors ranging from black/fuchsia to pink/green, these cocktail dresses will definitely turn heads.

Less is always more, but you need to leave something to imagination. Sherri Hill offers a stunning backless gown that features twisted, shirred chiffon crisscrossing the front and back for complete coverage but that never fails to intrigue. Paired with a flowing sequined skirt replete with a train, and available in red, black, gold, or white, you’re sure to be a hit.

Jovani Dresses

Prom wouldn’t be prom without Jovani. Draw attention with a gorgeous dress that features a sleeveless red lace peek-a-boo bodice accented with beads and sequins, and a flowing skirt with a thigh-high slit in the front. Or opt for a turquoise long gown with sheer crisscross straps accented with beads, a sheer midriff, and a long skirt with a short train. Or even a shimmery mini that will put you in the spotlight.

Jovani is renowned for using prints and patterns, so you can always find the perfect prom dresses to fit your mood. Celebrity Prom Dresses

If you like what you see in the movies or on the red carpets, prom is a great excuse to dress like your favorite celebrity. You can find a dress like the one Kate Hudson wore in “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days,” Charlize Theron’s knockout gown at the Golden Globes, or Beyonce’s show-stopping backless number.

Hip Hop Jewelry And Celebrities

By bfan · Comments (0)

Hip Hop Jewelry And Celebrities

Watch any of the major movie, television, and music award shows on television today and one of the first things you’ll notice about the celebrities on the red carpet, aside from their extravagant (and sometimes outlandish) attire, are the amount and size of the jewelry they are wearing. Hip-hop jewelry, more commonly known as bling-bling, is definitely not understated fashion. The bigger and the flashier it is, the better. Preferred by many of today’s celebrities, hip-hop jewelry adorns the fingers, necks, arms, even the teeth of many stars.

Oversized studs and chains are the trademarks of hip-hop jewelry and are preferred by celebrities such as Sean Combs, or P. Diddy. At the 2004 MTV Video Music Awards, he sported a diamond ring, bracelet, and watch from Jacob and Company. Rapper 50 Cent is another celebrity who is hardly ever seen without his hip-hop jewelry. On his web site, 50 Cent offers more affordable, though just as flashy, bling-bling for those of us who do not earn the megabucks that he and his fellow celebrities rake in. There are also many other web sites that offer low-priced hip-hop jewelry inspired by popular rap artists.

Hip-hop jewelry comes in many shapes and sizes, all of them meant to catch the eye and attract attention. Heavy chains of silver or gold (or both) can oftentimes be seen on celebrities such as LL Cool J and Ja Rule in their music videos. Hip-hop jewelry web sites offer fully ‘iced-out’ bling-bling, or watches, rings, bracelets and earrings that are heavily decorated with real or faux diamonds. So-called ‘spinner’ watches and rings are big best sellers in the hip-hop jewelry category. Also available are customized, removable gold, silver and platinum teeth which may be studded with jewels and gemstones, so even the pearly whites can have their share of hip-hop jewelry.

Women celebrities are keeping pace with their male counterparts when it comes to wearing hip-hop jewelry.  Stars such as Beyonce, Lil’ Kim, Ashanti and Missy Elliott are regularly seen in pictures wearing large diamond jewelry items of various colors. Even young female celebrities are getting on the bling-bling bandwagon. Teen stars like Jo Jo and Hilary Duff are said to be avid hip-hop jewelry enthusiasts and count themselves among the large number of bejeweled stars today.

Large, ostentatious pieces of jewelry did not start becoming popular only because of the hip-hop cultural phenomenon (think Elvis Presley and Tom Jones), but hip-hop has altered the jewelry market in a big way. Fans see what their favorite celebrities are wearing, and there are numerous options for them to emulate their idols – at least in terms of fashion. Jewelry has always been a part of popular culture, and today’s hip-hop jewelry and the celebrities who wear them are even more so in this age of instant information.

A Red Carpet Look For Your Prom

By bfan · Comments (0)

A Red Carpet Look For Your Prom

The best prom nights are magical and create memories that will last a lifetime. In the midst of coming up with ideas for the prom decorating committee and fretting about whether or not she’ll be asked out by the boy she pines for, one central issue stands apart from the rest: What will she wear? Shopping for prom dresses and deciding from among the best prospects can take weeks, if not months. For that reason, it’s never too soon to start shopping for prom dresses.

Although parents may shake their heads in wonder, prom dresses can make or break the prom experience – even more than her prom date (or lack thereof). This season, girls are looking to re-create the glamour and excitement of the red carpet by wearing dresses just like those seen on celebrities. Dress manufacturers keep a keen eye on the awards ceremonies, where celebs like Beyonce, Kate Hudson, Julia Roberts, Keira Knightly, Salma Hayek, and Charlize Theron glide down the red carpet, nodding to the paparazzi and creating trends in formal wear.

The other inspiration for this season’s prom dresses can be found in pageant dresses, like those worn at the Miss American and Miss USA pageants. Contestants exude a combination of elegance and excitement when wearing their pageant dresses. Dress manufacturers re-create that aura when they design pageant replicas, in the hope that the prom dresses will make girls feel as though the tiara awaits them on their special nights.

Celebrity dresses and pageant dresses are in fashion, but who are the fashionable manufacturers of prom dresses? Jovani, Niteline, Alyce, and Marc Bouwer top the list. The hottest prom dresses of the season have an intoxicating combination: they have some design elements that are revealing, while other design elements have more decorum. For example, the front of a taffeta gown might be deceptively simple, with a sweetheart bodice and a front slit. The back, however, may be bare with only a crisscross of rhinestones. Similarly, a silk sating gown may have a halter top with beaded French netting wrapping the midriff. Circle around, though, and the matching beaded straps cross high on an otherwise bare back.

When it comes to colors this season, the palette is virtually limitless. Pale yellows, peaches, and greens are in as are the bright fuchsias, turquoises, and reds. Prints are even making an appearance, although are generally limited to eye-catching white polka dots against a black background, accented with a bright red taffeta sash.

Prom dresses should allow a girl to make a statement about her personality. In many ways, prom dresses are a girl’s projection of how she sees herself and the image she wants to project to the world. Although parents may be tempted to rein her in, it may be the time to let her shine. When she’s able to choose the dress that speaks to her, she’s well on her way to creating those lifetime memories.
